BurnsvilleBurnsville is one of the plums of the area. A darling country town brought up to muster with its charming shops and galleries. But don’t mistake this for a funky little country town. Its sophistication matches that of the residents living there. Don’t miss The Design Gallery, one of our favorites always featuring a piece from Gary Rawlins, Ponder Cove Innkeeper and furniture maker extraordinaire. |

The Blue Ridge ParkwayYancey county claims 20 miles of the Parkway from Milepost 339 at Crabtree Meadows to Milepost 360 at Balsam Gap. Many of our visitors exit the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 344 and follow Highway 80 through the scenic Toe River Valley. With the Blue Ridge Parkway to the southeast and the Appalachian Trail to the Northwest, this area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. |

CraftTwice a year the Toe River Arts Council hosts a public tour drawing thousands of people here to tour galleries & artist studios. And don’t forget to schedule a visit to the famous Mt. Mitchell Crafts Fair, always held the first Friday & Saturday in August, showcasing many of our local artists. |

Quilt TrailsYancey County is soon to be featured in Barn Quilts and the American Quilt Trail, by Suzi Parron displaying their wonderful collection of American quilt patterns mounted on antique barns and town buildings. Might I suggest an afternoon drive allowing the quilt trail to be your guide through these magnificent mountain roads. |
