Asheville is offering a lot of dog-friendly options. It seems if the establishment offers al fresco dining then being with dog is totally cool. If the establishment is a drinking hole and not a restaurant you may be surprised to find your dog is even welcomed inside.

Totally cool atmosphere for grabbing a nice sip of champagne while hanging with your pooch. It’s places like this that really let the Asheville vibe soak in. This is a bar with nibbles. Dog is welcome inside or out.

I have been chasing this chef and thrilled to know he opened his own restaurant. Too good to be true. This is a divine atmosphere and the  food is guaranteed.  As they say come “sip, snack and relax”. Dogs are welcome to join you at outdoor tables.

This has been around for a while and is a standard and great place for catching lunch and cruising the Ashevillians.  Dogs are welcome to hang with you as you dine al fresco.

The Laughing Seed Cafe :: {828-252-3445} 40 Wall Street

A completely vegetarian restaurant specializing in foods from around the world. The dishes prepared here celebrate fresh vegetables combined with all natural and predominantly organic ingredients. Plenty of dog friendly outdoor tables.

Carmel’s is already known as a destination in downtown Asheville known for its Alfresco Dining and Jazzy-chic Bar. Located in the Historic Grove Arcade your dog is totally welcomed at one of many outdoor tables.

This creamery offers a variety of daily homemade ice creams and it is scrumptious. If you don’t like walking down the street with your cone dripping down your arm then by all means have a seat with your dog at one of the few tables.

Malaprop’s Bookstore & Café :: {828-254-6734} 55 Haywood Street

A booklover’s favorite Malaprops is renown! Great Berekely 1968 vibe. Live music performances and author events throughout the year. Dogs are allowed inside the book store as long as they are away from the cafe area. But it seems you can sit at one of the tables with you on one side and the dog on the other…I saw this in action and I found it a bit strained…but at least you can walk through with your dog.

Select the ice cream flavor and “mixins” of your choice and watch as they are mixed into your creation on a frozen marble slab. Dogs can share outside tables.
