Bread Puddin'

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 6 cups cubed bread
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3 eggs plus 1 egg white beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Soak raisins in bourbon overnight. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Place bread in a large bowl and pour half and half and milk over it. Let stand 10 minutes. Then crush until blended. Add eggs and egg white and vanilla; mix well. Combine sugar and cinnamon; add to bread mixture and stir in raisin mixture. Pour melted butter in a 13 x 9 x 2 inch Pyrex and spoon pudding mixture into pan and bake for 30 minutes or until firm. Cool and cut into squares. Oh, go ahead and throw on my favorite hard sauce....stick of softened butter with 1/4 cup bourbon and 1 cup of powdered suggar. Beat until icing consistency. It will cure what 'ails' you.
